The Syracuse University Art Museum collections and exhibitions serve as catalysts for teaching and research projects across disciplines.

Museum staff are available to consult with faculty and k-12 teachers to identify ways that the museum can best support course goals. This includes help identifying relevant works of art for discussion, facilitating gallery conversations or object study sessions.

The museum setting promotes active learning and interdisciplinary thinking, challenging students and teachers to develop evidence-based interpretations and to make connections across cultures and time.

  • Please request visits well ahead of time to reserve your spot. Note the following deadlines:
    • Requests for self guided visits to the galleries should be submitted at least one (1) week in advance.
    • Requests for staff led visits to the galleries should be submitted at least two (2) weeks in advance.
    • Requests for self guided or staff led visits to the Study Room with artwork pulled from storage should be submitted at least four (4) weeks in advance. We can pull 5-20 objects from storage, depending on the object size, weight, medium, and condition, as well as on the class size and staff capacity.
