Join Esther Moerdler, assistant curator at the Art Students League, for a presentation on the League’s history at 6:30 p.m. Following the talk, explore the Louise and Bernard Palitz Gallery exhibition Depicting the Everyday: A Legacy of Fine Arts Education at the Art Students League, featuring works from the Syracuse University Art Museum collection.

Explore the museum through photography and create your own piece of writing inspired by your experience during this free workshop hosted by the Syracuse University Art Museum. Led by artist and professor Kevin Adonis Browne, author and creator of A Sense of Arrival.

Come explore the Syracuse University Art Museum and enjoy an afternoon of art and art-making with the rest of your community! Visit our galleries and make art inspired by abstract artist Helen Frankenthaler. Community day activities also include:
- A scavenger hunt all afternoon.
- Printmaking with VPA students.
- Family Tour at 1 PM.
- Writing workshop with professor Kevin Adonis Browne at 2:00 pm. Space is limited, register here or sign up in-person.
- Free family guides available at the front desk.

Workshop: Inspiring Authentic Learning with Primary Sources from the Syracuse Art Museum Collections
This workshop will begin with a brief overview of the SU Art Museum collections and the opportunities it offers faculty to schedule class visits at the Museum. Then we will explore how these visits draw on evidence-based, high-impact teaching practices for authentic learning and helping students build academic integrity skills. For the remainder of the session participants will workshop incorporating a museum visit into their assignments and syllabi. Co-facilitated by Kate Holohan, Curator of Education at the SU Art Museum and Jessamyn Neuhaus, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence. The workshop will take place at the SU Museum, and space is limited to 20 participants.

Join Jeffrey Mayer (Syracuse University Professor of Fashion Design) and Lauren Tagliaferro G’10, G’11 (Curatorial Assistant, Memorial Art Gallery) for an art break where they discuss the Parisian fashions documented by photographer Gordon Parks, on view in the exhibition “Homeward to the Prairie I Come: Gordon Parks Photographs from the Beach Museum of Art.”
